Do you possess an expert level understanding of relational databases (design and performance tuning), specific to Microsoft SQL Server?  The SQL Database Software Engineer in this role will own the company’s database portion of their architecture.  The objective in this position is to design, develop, and implement complex database systems, tools, and applications and ensure overall customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Microsoft SQL development and administration
  • Database performance optimization
  • Design, program, and implement databases
    • apply database design principles
  • Design and troubleshoot the data access layer of applications
  • Design, implement, and optimize databases (physical/logical)
  • Use data modeling tools with stored procedures
  • Data Warehousing
  • Writing queries
  • Work in close cooperation with:
    • a team of software engineers and QA engineers
    • Architect: to evolve and meet customer demands
  • Gather business requirements
  • Serve as backup to Operations DBA
  • (ad-hoc querying assistance)


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in the industry
  • Mastery of Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL (current versions)
  • installation, development, and administration in (non)clustered environments
  • ETLs/reporting using Microsoft’s BI stack: SSRS, SSIS, SSAS  (preferred)
  • Linux administration (preferred)
  • Big Data technologies:  Hadoop, HBase, Cassandra etc. (preferred)
  • Exposure to financial industry
